Join us for a three-day long weekend of exciting trail running through the magnificent Karpasia Peninsula in eastern Cyprus, covering a total distance of about 90 km.
The route follows sections of the beautiful 255km Besparmak trail and comprises a mix of mountain trails, coastal paths and jeep tracks as it winds through farmlands and vast tracts of wilderness and remote coastline, passing through olive groves, carob plantations and wheat fields, and crossing turtle beaches.
FRIDAY FEBRUARY 24
Pickups and transfers from Larnaca and Nicosia to Kaplika/Davlos, on the coast below Kantara Castle. Dinner followed by a detailed briefing of the exciting adventure ahead.
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 25
8.00 am: Leave for Kantara Castle and the start of the day’s running, which will comprise a stretch of about 34km ending at the agricultural town of Esenkoy/ Koilanemos. Refreshments will be provided twice along the way with water, Coke, bananas and biscuits provided.
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 26
8:00 am: Runners set off along the trail, destination the picturesque Oasis Hotel near the town of Dikarpaz – distance about 36km. Refreshments will be provided twice along the way about the 14km and 30km marks.
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 27
8:30am: Runners set off along the final 26km section of the Besparmak trail, which tracks the coastline all the way to the eastern tip of the island at Cape Zafer. Along the way we stop to explore the ruins of the ancient city of Aphendrika. We will meet you at the 10km mark with refreshments (water, coke, bananas, biscuits) but from there, due to the remoteness of the terrain, you will need to be self-sufficient until the end of the trail. A runner who knows this route will accompany the group, but it is marked with the green and white B markings of the Besparmak trail so faster runners can run at their own pace.
Fee: 150 EUR for 3 days
